Cookie Policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026.

This Cookie Policy explains how The Future Mill LLC ("SortedResearch", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on sortedresearch.com (the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy.

We keep cookies to a minimum. Essential cookies are always on because the Service cannot work without them. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you accept them — you can accept or reject them from our cookie banner, and reject is a genuine choice with no loss of functionality.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They are used to remember information between page loads and visits, for example to keep you signed in or to remember a setting. Similar technologies (such as local storage) work in comparable ways and are covered by this policy.

2. Cookies we use

Cookie Type Purpose Duration
One-response-per-device Functional Prevents a participant from submitting more than one response per device for a study (deduplication) ~180 days
Authentication / session Strictly necessary Keeps signed-in researchers logged in and secures their session Session
sr_consent Strictly necessary Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics and advertising cookies ~12 months
Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*) Analytics Set by Google Analytics 4 only after you accept, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it Up to 2 years
Google Ads (_gcl_*) Advertising Set by Google Ads only after you accept, to measure whether our advertising leads to sign-ups and purchases Up to 90 days
Microsoft Advertising (_uetsid, _uetvid, MUID) Advertising Set by the Microsoft Advertising UET tag only after you accept, to measure whether our advertising on Bing and the Microsoft network leads to sign-ups and purchases _uetsid 1 day; _uetvid and MUID up to 13 months

3. Categories explained

  • Strictly necessary cookies are required for the Service to work (e.g. authentication) or to honour your privacy choice (sr_consent). These do not require consent.
  • Functional cookies improve how the Service works (e.g. the one-response-per-device deduplication cookie). Depending on jurisdiction, these may require consent.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) help us understand how visitors find and use the Service. They are only set after you accept.
  • Advertising cookies (Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising) let us measure the effectiveness of our advertising — for example, whether an ad click led to a sign-up. They are only set after you accept.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use these cookies to build profiles for third parties beyond measuring our own advertising.

4. Your choice and consent

We use Google Consent Mode and the equivalent Microsoft UET consent mode. Until you make a choice, analytics and advertising cookies are switched off by default — no such cookies are set and no personal data is shared for those purposes.

When our cookie banner appears you can:

  • Accept — we turn on analytics and advertising cookies.
  • Reject — analytics and advertising cookies stay off. The Google and Microsoft tags may still receive anonymous, cookieless signals that never identify you, and the Service works exactly the same.

Your choice is remembered on your device. To change it, clear the sr_consent value in your browser (or clear this site's cookies/storage) and the banner will appear again. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time.

5. How to control cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or removing existing cookies. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Service (such as signing in) may not work. Help pages for common browsers:

  • Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge each provide cookie controls in their privacy/settings menus.

You can also manage analytics and advertising cookies via our consent banner as described above.

6. Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date.
