Which study do I need?
Most research tools ask you to pick a method. That only helps if you already know the method’s name. Start from the decision instead: find the sentence below that sounds like the one you have been saying in meetings.
Or the four side by side
| Method | Answers | What you get | What it needs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Card sort | How do people group this? | Themes in customers' own words, and the names they use | A list. No structure required |
| Findability | Can people find it? | Success per task, first taps, the routes people took | A structure that already exists |
| Pairwise | Which of these matters most, and how well is it done? | An opportunity matrix, importance against satisfaction | A list of needs, ideally from a card sort |
| Best-Worst | What matters most, forced? | A 0 to 100 ranking with a must-have line | A long list, 20 or 30 items is comfortable |
Still not sure?
Look around a finished workspace with one of each already run and analysed, or read the longer guides. The free plan runs a full study with up to 10 participants and needs no card.
