Comparison

Survey software compared

SortedResearch, Qualtrics, aytm and Suzy, side by side on how you build a questionnaire, who checks the answers, and what it costs. Qualtrics is the broad enterprise platform; aytm and Suzy sell research projects with their own panels; SortedResearch draws the whole survey as a map and judges every response for you. We make SortedResearch, so every claim about the others links to their own pages.

Building the questionnaire

Every tool here handles skip logic. The difference is whether you can see the whole questionnaire’s logic at once, or have to open each question to find it.

SortedResearchQualtricsaytmSuzy
How routing is shown✓One map of the whole survey: the screener in its own box, and every answer that routes somewhere drawn as its own line~Survey Flow lists the blocks top to bottom; display and skip logic are set on each question4~“Advanced logic” on questions and answers; no map of the whole survey found7–No map of the whole survey found
Problems caught while you build✓A question nobody can reach, or a route that goes nowhere, is flagged on the map–Not found–Not found–Not found
Bring in a questionnaire you already have✓Word, PDF or pasted text, as written: Graham builds a new draft with its routing, screen-outs and quotas, and lists anything he could not map~Word or text files written in Qualtrics’ own import format, or its QSF file5~An AI draft from a written prompt; importing a file not found8–Not found
Question types16 on every plan, including image choice, NPS, matrix grids, rank order and video8 on the free account, 23 on Strategic Research1Not published as a count; matrix, open-ended, video and specialty types listed7Not published
Try it with simulated respondents✓Send hundreds of made-up respondents through the logic to see where they go and how long it takes✓Randomly generated test responses14–Not found–Not found

Who checks the answers?

All four look for bad responses. Most flag them and leave the cleaning to you. SortedResearch decides every response by a written rule, so the data you open is already judged.

SortedResearchQualtricsaytmSuzy
What is checked✓Eleven checks: speeding timed to each screen, grid straightlining, attention checks, made-up options, ticking every screener box, contradicting answers, junk or copied open text, answer patterns, impossible numbers and repeat people✓Speeders, likely bots and duplicates; gibberish text, unanswered questions and straightlining if you turn them on2✓Speeders, straight-liners, duplicates, random answers and bad open ends10✓Bot detection, identity and phone checks, and engagement scoring11
What happens to a flagged response✓Rejected, or held for you to look at; one weak signal never rejects anyone on its own~Flagged as fields for you to review and filter; speeders are measured against the median after 100 responses2~Flagged for “further scrutiny”10✓Known low-quality answers filtered automatically, plus review by its team11
Checks on people you recruit yourself✓The same eleven, on every response✓Yes2–Not found–Not found
Bad panel responses✓Rejected automatically, not charged, and the place reopens for someone else~You remove them and Qualtrics tries to replace or refund them, up to 25% of the order, not on orders under 503–Terms not found–Terms not found

“Not found” means we could not find it on that vendor’s website or help pages on 28 October 2026, not that it cannot exist.

Reading the results

All four chart the answers. Here is what each documents beyond that.

SortedResearchQualtricsaytmSuzy
AI on the results✓Graham writes the report: headline, group differences that matter, themes from open answers with quotes, as Word, PowerPoint or PDF✓Themes and headlines from open feedback in Insights Explorer13✓Summaries of key findings and coded themes from open ends8~Search across your research9

Which one fits

  • Qualtrics if surveys are one part of a company-wide experience program with many users, integrations and an enterprise contract.
  • aytm if you want to buy research by the project, with its own panel and AI tools to draft and code it.
  • Suzy if you want a managed consumer research partner with its own panel and a team reviewing responses.
  • SortedResearch if you want to see your survey’s logic at a glance, have every response judged before you open the data, pay a published monthly price, and run card sorts, tree tests and MaxDiff in the same place.

Common questions

How much does survey software cost?
On the public pages we read on 28 October 2026: SortedResearch is $49 a month, billed monthly. Qualtrics Strategic Research is $420 a month, or $5,040 billed annually, for 1,000 responses in all, and its free account allows 500 responses. aytm sells its Lite plan per project with no price shown, and Suzy has no public pricing.
Which survey tool shows the logic as a map?
SortedResearch draws the whole questionnaire as one map, with the screener in its own box and every route as a line. Qualtrics shows a list of blocks in Survey Flow and sets display and skip logic on each question. We found no whole-survey map on aytm’s or Suzy’s own pages.
Do these tools remove bad responses automatically?
SortedResearch rejects or holds every response by rule, and a rejected panel response is not charged. Qualtrics flags speeders, likely bots and duplicates for you to review and filter. aytm flags suspect responses for scrutiny, and Suzy filters known low-quality answers and has its team review responses.
Can I import a questionnaire from Word?
In SortedResearch, yes: upload a Word document or PDF as written, or paste the text, and Graham builds a draft survey with its routing, screen-outs and quotas. Qualtrics imports Word and text files that follow its own import format. aytm drafts a survey from a written prompt, and we found no file import on Suzy’s pages.
